As the Senior Consultant, Privacy Office, you’ll report to the Director of Privacy Office, within Compliance and Global Regulatory Affairs. You’ll support the Global Privacy Office mandate and core strategies, primarily in the areas of Privacy Governance and Advisory & Consulting Services. You are expected to become a subject matter expert, capable of developing relationships with business partners to monitor and support privacy governance across the organization. The working environment is fast paced and requires multi-tasking and flexibility in managing priorities. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in a Privacy role.
  • Managed regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to a bank.
  • Experience in communicating regulatory changes and developing and implementing policies, guidelines or procedures to meet regulatory obligations.
  • Ability to analyze initiatives to ensure privacy risks are identified and are aligned with our privacy policies and comply with privacy law.
  • Ability to effectively communicate findings in an impactful way.
  • Hold a privacy designation with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or will acquire within the first year.
  • Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s) and, where applicable, must have a valid work or study permit.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of five years of working experience in compliance, risk management, legal, audit or other governance group in the financial services industry.
  • Certified professional.

Responsibilities

  • Provide privacy expertise and guidance to lines of business.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments for new initiatives/revised programs.
  • Assess risk and controls and develop privacy guidance and training resources.
  • Collaborate with lines of business and develop strong relationships across the organization.
  • Conduct reviews of proposed or new privacy legislation impacting CIBC operations.
  • Risk assess new regulations and ensure compliance with the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management of privacy regulations.
  • Participate in the ongoing review of monitoring and oversight mechanisms to ensure privacy compliance.
  • Participate in reviewing CIBC’s privacy program and revising processes and policies to build a strong privacy program and culture across the organization.
  • Gather, organize, and interpret data/information to formulate appropriate conclusions and prepare communications and reports for senior members of the organization.
  • Conduct all necessary research to provide guidance and support to the team when they work with various lines of businesses on when conducting risk assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with business partners and make recommendations to manage and lower privacy risk.
