Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field (Master's Degree is preferred)
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Professional Wetland Scientist certification
  • Strong project management background and experience in the utility sector
  • Proficient with Microsoft computer applications
  • Ability to complete indoor and outdoor work. When in an outdoor environment, the employee is subject to significant walking distances in uneven terrain, varying temperatures, weather conditions, wildlife, and noise
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Support energy sector projects in Georgia and throughout the southeastern U.S., including routing and siting
  • Prepare and manage environmental documents for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
  • Manage projects involving listed species surveys, permitting, and/or relocations, including gopher tortoise and other listed species surveys
  • Manage projects involving jurisdictional wetland and stream determinations
  • Prepare and manage permit applications and compliance documentation for Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)
  • Manage projects that may include research, field data collection efforts, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) coordination and technical report preparation
  • Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Coordinate staffing needs, workload distribution, and quality control for Georgia and regional projects
  • Assist with marketing efforts, proposal preparation, project scoping, and budget development
  • Support strategic growth of Verdantas’ ecological projects in the Southeast
  • Conduct occasional overnight and/or weekend travel to remote field sites and operate field vehicles and equipment
