About The Position

West Monroe is seeking a Senior Consultant with experience in Insurance and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to join their growing Mergers & Acquisitions practice. This team partners with Private Equity and Corporate Strategic clients to transform insurance brokers, carriers, and InsurTech companies. The role focuses on delivering client value across the transaction lifecycle, from pre-close due diligence to post-close integration and value creation. Responsibilities include assisting clients with operating model transformations, cost optimization, and implementing technology, platforms, and analytics. The Senior Consultant will work directly with clients to solve complex business and technology challenges, mentor junior consultants, and contribute to business development efforts.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in consulting, M&A, or IT within the Insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Insurance sub-sectors, including brokers, carriers, MGAs, InsurTech, BPO/Insurance Services, and FinTech.
  • Experience in M&A-centric roles (e.g., due diligence, post-merger integration, carve-outs) with Private Equity investors or corporate strategics.
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent projects and workstreams efficiently.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality assurance skills.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present to C-level executives.
  • Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Proficiency in project planning methodologies and software development life cycles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in collaborative, team-based environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%; travel is typically short-term (2-3 days on-site per diligence project, 50% during post-close execution).
  • Authorization to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Serve Private Equity and Corporate Strategic clients across the transaction lifecycle, including platform acquisitions, mergers/integrations, and divestitures/carve-outs.
  • Conduct pre-close technology and operations due diligence, identifying risks and opportunities related to compliance, operations, revenue, and growth.
  • Lead post-close engagements, including Day 1 readiness planning, post-merger integration, carve-out execution, and technology-enabled value creation initiatives such as digital transformation, systems migration, data strategy, and target operating model development.
  • Work directly with clients to implement processes and technologies that drive business value and operational efficiency across business and technical functions.
  • Facilitate client workshops to design future-state business processes, define requirements, and evaluate technology solutions against industry best practices.
  • Interface with all levels of management, including C-level executives, at client organizations.
  • Develop client-ready communications, such as project plans, implementation plans, and financial models, to facilitate decision-making, mitigate risks, and resolve issues.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining high attention to detail and prioritizing competing demands.
  • Collaborate with engagement teams to establish highly functioning joint project teams and reduce project risk.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
  • Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.
  • Build data-driven methodologies and assets for evaluating Insurance services and technology businesses in a due diligence capacity.
  • Enhance frameworks and tools for technology due diligence, advisory engagements, and broader Insurance practice initiatives.
  • Collaborate with software, infrastructure, and security architects to elevate the Insurance advisory capabilities of the M&A team.
  • Actively participate in recruiting top talent, mentoring junior consultants, and contributing to the performance management process.
  • Support business development efforts by creating work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for prospects.
  • Assist in tailoring proposals to client investment needs and constraints, particularly in the Insurance and Financial Services sectors.
  • Build and leverage a professional network by attending industry events and engaging with clients and prospects.
  • Actively participate in M&A and Insurance industry events to stay informed of market trends and competitive dynamics.
