About The Position

The Electric Risk & Compliance organization provides governance, oversight, and strategic direction on risk and compliance matters across Electric Operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise policies and external/internal regulatory requirements. It partners cross-functionally to manage compliance requirements, strengthen controls, and enable risk-based oversight through effective monitoring, data, and reporting. The Compliance Insights team provides strategic, comprehensive data analysis, reporting, and data-driven insights that support Electric compliance, investigations, and risk management. As a Senior Risk and Compliance consultant on the Compliance Controls team in the Electric Risk and Compliance insights organization, you will work across the Electric organization to identify, document, and test key controls, including developing controls test plans. You will evaluate and provide insight on control deficiencies to determine potential impact to Electric. You will pressure-test and refine compliance solutions. You will present test findings and make controls enhancement recommendations to functional management once design and operating effectiveness testing is complete. The role applies compliance, risk, and quality expertise to advance capabilities against PG&E’s Compliance Maturity Model and align program design with recognized standards for effective compliance and ethics programs, including the U.S. Department of Justice Federal Sentencing Guidelines. You partner closely with Electric coworkers to evaluate compliance maturity performance, perform gap analyses to identify gaps and develop mitigation plans. You support key compliance management workstreams that enable Electric coworkers to conduct business in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, and to identify, manage, and mitigate risk. The selected candidate must live within PG&E’s service territory and will be expected to work in the office 2-3 days per week. The remaining days can be working from home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience.
  • Five years of relevant working experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering, economics, business administration or job-related field
  • Electrical engineer with experience in the utility industry to support technical interpretations and implementation of new compliance requirements.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Demonstrated experience performing or overseeing compliance monitoring, documentation validation, audits, or evidence-based assessments
  • Advanced knowledge of California and federal regulatory requirements and electric utility compliance practices
  • Strong problem-solving, project/change management, and communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of utility regulatory frameworks (e.g., CPUC, FERC, NERC, WECC) and how they inform enterprise compliance strategy
  • Proven ability to design and lead implementation of compliance governance models that drive operational alignment and accountability
  • Strong understanding of utility operations and asset management, with the ability to translate regulatory expectations into field-executable strategy
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional, high-impact initiatives through risk-based planning, change leadership, and strategic execution
  • Proficiency in compliance systems, reporting tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., GRC, SAP, Power BI) to support insight-driven decision-making
  • Direct experience in utility compliance, operations or related programs
  • Ability to influence others to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment to act
  • Highly flexible, self-directed, and able to adapt well to a rapidly

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to Electric sub-functions to strengthen and mature the compliance program and improve performance.
  • Develop innovative tools and solutions to support/improve compliance program maturity
  • Assess Electric sub-function compliance programs.
  • Perform compliance validation activities and testing controls for design and operating effectiveness.
  • Supports the development and implementation of Electric’s Compliance Controls Program by providing expert support to cross-functional partners (operations, engineering, SMEs, compliance support teams) to strengthen controls, evidence capture, process consistency, and develop compliance metrics.
  • Supports maintaining a complete and accurate inventory of regulatory requirements, including identifying requirement owners, and mapping requirement to guidance documents, controls, and trainings.
  • Performs analysis of compliance metrics, evidence, and documentation to identify gaps, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Supports maintenance of guidance documents, procedures, templates, and job aids that support compliance maturity.
  • Identifies new or changing regulatory, operational, or risk concerns that may impact maturity expectations and recommends updates to programs or tools.
  • Supports compliance reviews with Electric sub-function leaders, facilitating compliance assessments and recommending corrective actions aligned to regulatory requirements and risk priorities.
  • Prepares and delivers clear, executive-ready reports and briefings on compliance, maturity performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate and analyze regulatory requirement and internal commitment challenges to determine extent of condition and remediation effort
