About The Position

The Circular Material Innovations (CMI) team is part of Product Stewardship at Canadian Tire. The team manages packaging data, regulatory reporting, and waste diversion programs (e.g., tires, packaging, IC&I waste) across Canada. It also identifies and delivers circular business and operational opportunities. The team is tasked with improving data quality and infrastructure, and identifying tangible opportunities to reduce cost, risk, and environmental impact. The ideal candidate strategically identifies opportunities, collaborations, and improvements – and can deliver them. They are comfortable moving between analysis, project delivery, and stakeholder coordination, and can take a problem from idea through to execution. They are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while keeping track of timelines, risks, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in project management and/or operational roles
  • Strong project management skills, with experience delivering initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Comfort working with data and building analysis that direct business decisions
  • Experience managing relationships across cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines with strong organization and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including preparing materials for leadership audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data, reporting, and compliance-related work.

Nice To Haves

  • experience in circularity, material management, sustainability, retail or regulatory environments will be considered an asset.
  • familiarity with data analysis/management tools like Knime, Azure and Microsoft Access considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification and delivery of circularity and sustainability initiatives, including packaging improvements, material reduction, and diversion programs.
  • Manage vendor assessments and pilot programs end-to-end, including scoping, execution, tracking results, and recommending scale-up or adjustments.
  • Be accountable for planning and delivering projects, including timelines, stakeholder coordination, issue resolution, and overall execution.
  • Ensure programs meet federal and provincial regulatory requirements by working closely with internal teams, Producer Responsibility Organizations, and external partners.
  • Inform the analysis of program performance (costs, volumes, diversion rates) and use insights to identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and present business cases and recommendations, clearly outlining costs, savings, risks, and trade-offs for decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder communication, including preparing updates, documenting decisions, and maintaining alignment across cross-functional teams.
