About The Position

This position will support and manage air permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental consulting projects for industrial, manufacturing, commercial, redevelopment, and public-sector clients. The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical resource, providing regulatory guidance, preparing air permit applications and compliance documentation, supporting client relationships, and developing practical, cost-effective solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys technical problem-solving, project management, client interaction, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of demonstrated experience in air quality permitting, environmental compliance, or environmental consulting.
  • Experience preparing air permit applications and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Experience developing emissions calculations and evaluating regulatory applicability.
  • Working knowledge of Clean Air Act requirements and related air quality regulations.
  • Experience managing environmental consulting projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, automotive, logistics, energy, municipal, redevelopment, or industrial clients.
  • Experience with air dispersion modeling tools such as AERMOD and Photochemical Air Quality Modeling.
  • Experience with multimedia compliance programs, including stormwater, SPCC, waste management, EPCRA, and environmental health and safety.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to conduct facility inspections and site visits and ability to wear required personal protective equipment when needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites as needed.
  • Occasional travel to client facilities, project sites, and regulatory meetings. Anticipated travel is approximately 10–20%, depending on project and client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, manage, and review air permit applications, emissions calculations, emissions inventories, and regulatory submittments.
  • Support client compliance with federal, state, and local air quality regulations.
  • Evaluate regulatory applicability for equipment, processes, facilities, and operational changes.
  • Assist with permitting strategies for new, modified, or expanding facilities.
  • Support compliance programs including Title V, FESOP, minor source permitting, construction permitting, NSR, NESHAP, MACT, NSPS, greenhouse gas reporting, and EPCRA reporting.
  • Conduct environmental compliance audits, facility assessments, and regulatory reviews.
  • Support multimedia environmental compliance projects involving air, stormwater, SPCC, waste management, EPCRA, and environmental health and safety.
  • Assist clients with agency inspections, information requests, compliance questions, and corrective action planning.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, work plans, compliance documentation, and client-ready deliverables.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Develop proposals, cost estimates, and scopes of work.
  • Coordinate with Patriot’s engineers, geologists, scientists, health and safety specialists, and regulatory professionals to deliver comprehensive environmental solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and practical problem-solving.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff and provide technical review of work products.
  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities to expand environmental services.
