About The Position

Van Acker Construction (VAC) is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager / Superintendent for a high-end, multi-acre residential construction project on the San Francisco Peninsula. This project involves multiple structures and extensive landscape systems, requiring a strong leader to oversee scheduling and coordination. The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, capable of bringing diverse teams together. This role requires discretion, diplomacy, and the ability to manage projects up to $80M. Van Acker Construction acts as the General Contractor, holding overall responsibility for all construction phases.

Requirements

Minimum twenty years of experience in the construction industry with increasing skills and responsibility.
At least ten years of supervisory and scheduling experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent degree or certificate in construction and engineering, business and administration, or other related classes.
Capable of running construction projects with contract values up to $80M.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Applications, and scheduling tools.
Familiarity with software programs for job costing and estimating is important.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk the site (uneven surfaces and long distances between structures) and otherwise physically perform all duties of the job.
Adaptable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Decisive and able to work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
Able to coordinate multiple activities and teams simultaneously, while analyzing and resolving specific problems.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to establish good working relationships with owners, subcontractors, other site superintendents, design professionals, city officials, and neighbors.
Proficiency in diplomatic negotiations and client relations.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Manage, coordinate, and supervise the construction process from conceptual development through final construction, ensuring timeliness, economy, and quality control.
Oversee the organization, scheduling, and implementation of the project to execute designs, directing teams to integrate building structure, MEP, and landscape systems.
Coordinate and manage people, materials, equipment, budgets, schedules, contracts, and safety of employees and the public.
Regularly review engineering and architectural drawings and specifications to monitor progress and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes.
Meet regularly with owners, subcontractors, architects, and other design professionals to monitor and coordinate all phases of the construction project.
Interact with city officials and neighbors as needed.
Observe job conditions and identify changes and potential problems, particularly concerning safety and regulatory adherence.
