About The Position

P2S|CMTA is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to provide leadership for a major capital improvement project at California State University, Long Beach. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong Design-Build expertise and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of design and construction. The successful candidate will serve as the Owner's Representative and play a critical role in delivering a transformative campus project.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience managing public works construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience providing senior-level leadership on complex capital projects
  • Design-Build and/or Progressive Design-Build experience required
  • Experience working for or with a General Contractor on large construction projects
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong understanding of construction administration, project controls, and contract management
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and executive reporting capabilities
  • Position is on-site, in person only
  • Candidates must have current work authorization in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • CSU experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Owner's Representative throughout the design and construction process.
  • Lead project collaboration efforts including scope development, contracting, construction administration, commissioning, schedule oversight, and project closeout.
  • Maintain day-to-day project leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of project team members.
  • Guide stakeholder decisions to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate value engineering efforts.
  • Prepare, manage, and support documentation required for audits, post-performance reviews, and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, payment applications, cash flow, contracts, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with fiscal and project stakeholders to reconcile budgets and provide financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly executive-level presentations, project updates, and briefing materials for university leadership and governing boards.
  • Assist with preparation and review of schematic, preliminary, and construction document submittals.
  • Procure and coordinate required plan reviews and agency approvals, including: State Fire Marshal, Division of the State Architect (DSA), Life Safety and Code Compliance Reviews, Seismic Peer Review, Mechanical Systems Review, Commissioning Services, and other authorities having jurisdiction as required.
  • Ensure project compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and agency requirements.
