The Senior Construction Manager is a critical leadership role at DCOMM, positioned between the Supervisor and Operations Manager roles. This individual is responsible for managing multiple Outside Plant (OSP) construction projects, including fiber optics, aerial, and underground construction. With a strong focus on project execution, this role emphasizes meeting deadlines, maintaining quality standards, and adhering to budgets while working closely with field supervisors, subcontractors, and customers. The Senior Construction Manager ensures projects are completed efficiently and aligns with DCOMM’s operational goals and customer expectations. This role balances time between office-based responsibilities—such as scheduling, documentation, and reporting—and fieldwork, where the individual provides hands-on leadership and oversight. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and demonstrates expertise in managing resources, fostering collaboration, and driving operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role managing teams of supervisors, field crews, and subcontractors in a high-activity construction environment. Proven ability to lead and develop diverse teams.
  • Strong background in broadband Outside Plant (OSP) construction, including fiber optics, aerial, and underground work. Comprehensive understanding of workflows, customer metrics, and operational demands.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in broadband Outside Plant (OSP) construction, with demonstrated success managing multiple projects. Strong knowledge of fiber optics, aerial, and underground construction methods and workflows.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, including supervisors and subcontractors, in a high-activity, project-focused environment. Experience fostering collaboration, accountability, and a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Expertise in scheduling, resource allocation, and project execution. Familiarity with maintaining project timelines, quality standards, and financial controls.
  • Deep understanding of OSHA standards, construction safety protocols, and compliance requirements. Experience conducting safety audits and implementing risk mitigation measures.
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing concerns proactively and ensuring alignment with their expectations.
  • Experience with project tracking tools and customer-provided project management software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Optimize the allocation of personnel, vehicles, materials, and equipment across multiple projects to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment with project goals and expectations.
  • Monitor and inspect work performed in the field to ensure it meets technical specifications, customer requirements, and company standards. Address any deficiencies promptly with corrective actions.
