We specialize in providing full-service construction management, CE&I and design services for a full spectrum of industries encompassing construction projects for heavy highway roadway, bridge, railroad, tunnel, airport, seaport and marine, commercial and institutional building facilities, ITS, mechanical, electrical, environmental, water, sewer, utility, as well as design-build services for both new infrastructure and renovation projects. M&J proudly serves a broad range of clients, including federal and state agencies, local municipalities, private owners, architects, engineers, and contractors. M&J is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Senior Construction Inspector to join our team to provide critical quality assurance oversight to ensure construction projects are completed in accordance with contract requirements, plans, and specifications. This role operates under the general supervision of the Senior Project Engineer and Project Administrator and serves as a key liaison between contractors, project teams, and government stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 6+ years of experience with Long Island Highway, Roadway, Stormwater, Site, Building, Waterway, or Shoreline Construction Improvement projects.
  • NICET Level III, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • ACI Certification
  • NETTCP Concrete
  • NETTCP HMA Paving
  • NETTCP Soils and Aggregate
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician
  • OSHA 10 Hours certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy highway construction materials, methods, and procedures
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed records and reports
  • Candidate shall be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and auto insurance.
  • Candidate must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and approved submittmits
  • Maintain accurate field and office records, including daily reports, field measurements
  • Perform quantity computations and verify work completed for payment eligibility
  • Observe contractor operations and document field conditions, progress, and any non-conforming work
  • Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of corrective actions for deficient work
  • Monitor contractor quality control processes and verify adherence to approved quality control plans
  • Prepare detailed reports on project progress, work quality, and quantities eligible for payment
  • Review contractor payment applications, proposals, and change order requests for accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinate construction activities and serve as a primary point of contact for clients and government agencies
  • Ensure project documentation complies with agency, client, and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate and/or perform inspections, testing, and surveying activities
  • Lead project meetings, including preparation of agendas, summaries, and documentation
  • Conduct constructability reviews and verify design quantities during project development
  • Assist with project closeout activities with minimal supervision
  • Mentor and oversee junior inspectors and entry-level staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
