About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Senior Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Virginia. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, electrical/instrumentation, civil or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Requirements

  • 12 or more years' relevant experience, with extensive construction supervision experience, including experience at management level
  • May have chartered professional status or equivalent in a relavent discipline, or be eligible for such status (EIT or PE)

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors
  • Perform punch list inspections
  • Review drawings and specifications and other technical documents
  • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos
  • Participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews
  • Lead site supervision activity on construction projects, or an element of a complex project, managing a site supervision team and ensuring that work meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections
  • Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities
  • Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections
  • Local travel will include to project site, client meetings, construction oversight, etc.
