About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their Dearborn, MI team. This role will be part of a major US commercial real estate manufacturing program for a well-known client. An on-site office presence is required three days a week.

Requirements

  • Competency using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CostX, Bluebeam.
  • Proficient in industry estimating databases and data sources (e.g., RS Means, Trade Services, Richardsons).
  • Demonstrated experience working in an estimating management role on large-scale and complex Commercial Real Estate manufacturing construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience of all elements of estimating construction projects, including Architectural and MEP elements.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale and complex projects.
  • Exemplary communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Must be a self-starter, goal/results-oriented leader and team player.
  • Bachelors’ degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar.
  • Recent commercial real estate construction experience.
  • Ability to perform duties using Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take-off Software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Assist in providing feasibility studies and using parametric benchmark cost data.
  • Provide reasoned and rational cost advice on estimating and planning elements.
  • Understand local market rates and project nuances.
  • Contribute to the benchmark library and advise on the accuracy of external cost advice and estimates.
  • Provide benchmarking studies, analyze cost data, and present data in reports.
  • Undertake cost assurance of third-party estimates, including report writing and presentation.
  • Perform all aspects of procurement, including managing pre-qualification, producing bid lists, bid analysis, bid reports, and compiling contractual documents.
  • Participate effectively in post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Manage cost checks and perform valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate processes.
  • Produce monthly cost reports and present them to clients.
  • Provide input into value engineering and options analysis.
  • Maintain liaison with clients and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Identify opportunities for new business with existing clients and report them to the appropriate line manager, utilizing the marketing database.
  • Identify improvements for cost estimating procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Manage direct communications with clients to understand scope for estimate requests, manage expectations for deliverable timelines, and present the final deliverable.
  • Provide estimates for maintenance and/or repair construction projects (e.g., parking lot repairs, HVAC upgrades, EV charger installations).
  • Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
