About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator I to join our Solar group with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Senior Estimator will provide leadership, coordination, and final preparation of full estimates on large and complex work projects.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience
  • Minimum nine years construction industry experience (preferred experience in renewables, utilities, electrical contracting, large construction)
  • Six years construction estimating experience preferred
  • Organized and detailed with proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, leadership skills, and possess a builder mindset
  • Applicable mathematical and cost analysis skills
  • Proficient with building/estimating techniques and software: Excel, ISqFt, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, Google Earth, PowerPoint
  • Current driver’s license
  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects
  • Provide conceptual, detailed, self-perform work estimates, and cost models
  • Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and submission
  • Determine trade partners for bidding process and final estimate pricing
  • Assign work to estimating team and ensure accurate information is incorporated
  • Conduct quantity surveys, cost estimates, and review trade partner proposals
  • Research tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits
  • Write and submit Requests for Information
  • Maintain regular communication with the estimating team, design phase, PV engineering and leadership
  • Ensure understanding of project scope and updates among team members and trade partners
  • Research and analyze historical project data for current applications
  • Assist in project scheduling
  • Lead, train, mentor, and manage estimators, including periodic feedback and performance evaluations
