About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architect/Engineer to join our SIRIS team supporting an Electronic Health Record Management System (EHRM) upgrade project at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. This position will support the Program Manager, VA client staff, Contracting Officer’s Representatives (CORs), Architects/Engineers (A/Es), Construction Managers, and contractors by providing technical expertise, design review, construction coordination, and project oversight for complex healthcare construction projects. The Senior Architect/Engineer will serve as a technical representative supporting the VA Medical Center to ensure projects are designed and executed in accordance with approved scopes of work, applicable codes, VA standards, contract requirements, schedules, and project budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • OSHA 30: Required
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience practicing as an Architect, Engineer, or Construction Manager.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing facility construction projects, including design coordination, construction oversight, schedule management, cost control, budgeting, and project execution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of field experience performing similar construction management responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with construction practices, quality assurance, scheduling, cost management, and change management
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in administrative, financial, and compliance matters
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Medical facility experience (highly preferred).
  • CCM, PMP, PE, Registered Architect, or equivalent professional credential: Preferred
  • Experience supporting healthcare, federal, or institutional construction projects preferred.
  • Experience with VA, DoD, Corps, GSA, or other federal construction programs preferred.
  • Educational requirements may be substituted with fifteen (15) years of directly related experience demonstrating equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural and engineering technical support for VA EHRM construction projects.
  • Perform design reviews for concept, tentative, intermediate, pre-final, and final submissions to verify completeness, accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and alignment with approved project requirements.
  • Perform technical reviews and constructability assessments for design submissions.
  • Review re-designs and future design development efforts as requested by the Program Manager
  • Coordinate review comments from project stakeholders, including Construction Managers and A/Es, and provide consolidated feedback.
  • Review schedules, budgets, and design feasibility and provide recommendations regarding project impacts.
  • Advise program manager & stakeholders about constructability concerns, and potential design conflicts.
  • Verify completed designs comply with VA standards, approved scopes of work, applicable codes, and project requirements.
  • Support EHRM project contract documentation, including modifications, Independent Government Estimates (IGEs), Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Review construction documentation, progress reports, testing, inspections, and quality assurance records for compliance.
  • Participate in project meetings and support issue resolution, risk identification, and project coordination.
  • Prepare professional-quality technical reports, correspondence, and program documentation.
  • Understand patient safety requirements.
  • Understand infection control procedures.
  • Understand utility shutdown coordination.
  • Understand noise and dust mitigation requirements.
  • Understand construction phasing strategies that maintain uninterrupted hospital operations.
