About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This role supports all AWS data centers and the associated equipment, aiming to provide customers with continuous access to innovation. The team comprises software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high standards of safety and security while delivering infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost. The ideal candidate will possess strong data center technical knowledge combined with practical construction and commissioning experience to drive standards in the delivery process. Experience in a broad design and construction infrastructure environment is beneficial.

Requirements

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Global Constructability team and the global Construction Management teams to ensure consistency of approach.
• Drive practical constructability standards in design documentation.
• Drive commissionability improvements in our designs.
• Drive process improvements in the hand off from design to construction/commissioning.
• Optimise the engineering input post design completion - driving consistent roles and responsibilities and accountability.
• Work closely with regional engineering teams to drive consistency.
• Act as the initial point of escalation for complex constructability issues.
• Perform 25% regional travel, sometimes unplanned.
