About The Position

FTI Consulting is a leading global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation. The Conflicts group, reporting to Legal, provides 24-7 coverage for FTI’s worldwide business. The Senior Conflicts Analyst will be a collaborative team member responsible for reviewing new business opportunities to ensure timely responses and determine if new engagements can be accepted. This role requires exceptional communication skills for frequent discussions with professionals at all levels, the ability to work independently with limited supervision, and a high degree of attention to detail, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Candidates must be able to adapt to new policies and procedures in a busy, high-volume environment, often under time pressure, and maintain confidentiality of firm business matters. The role also involves leveraging internal and external databases for research and developing an understanding of FTI's services to navigate complex business relationships and conflict analysis.

Requirements

  • Extensive familiarity with the legal field and legal terminology
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as this role requires frequent discussions with administrative and client-facing professionals to gather and clarify information
  • Ability to work as a team player, learn quickly, and adapt to new policies and procedures in a busy environment with a high volume of new business matters requiring review, often under time pressure
  • Ability to conduct analysis independently, conferring with the Conflicts leadership team on complex, difficult or new issues as needed
  • Experience in working with ingenuity and creativity when obstacles are encountered
  • Attention to detail, with strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide occasional weekend support on a rotating (on-call) basis, given that the Conflicts Management process involves 24-7 coverage for the Company’s world-wide business
  • Computer proficiency and an ability to pick up new systems and software quickly
  • Bachelor’s degree in related business field
  • 3+ years of experience as an analyst in a conflicts or new business intake function within a law, auditing, financial, or consulting firm
  • This role requires travel to clients and FTI offices
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United states on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience using IntApp, Salesforce and Elite
  • Working knowledge of public company SEC filings, corporate family tree information, and other publicly available information that may assist in reviewing client and other party relationships
  • Working knowledge of engagement letters/contractual agreements, waiver language, external support guidelines, and terms & conditions of engagements
  • Broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures related to conflicts of interest and the legal field

Responsibilities

  • Working as a collaborative team member as part of the Conflicts group, under the direction of the Manager of Conflicts
  • Reviewing new business opportunities for the company on an expedited basis to ensure a timely response to company professionals and their clients, in order to determine if a new engagement can be accepted
  • Handling clearances for a defined portfolio as well as clearances outside of an assigned queue segment where necessary to manage volume and urgent requests
  • Conducting a timely and accurate review of potential conflict concerns and related new business issues (including legal, relationship and reputational risks)
  • Verifying completeness and accuracy of new engagement descriptions, applying an analytical approach to identify and spot new issues and concerns, and escalating those matters to the leadership of the Conflicts team and Company professionals where appropriate
  • Applying company conflict policies and procedures as guiding principles in evaluating, tracking and maintaining records of potential issues with new business opportunities
  • Communicate timely conflict analysis summaries to internal teams, provide clear and accurate information for client consideration, and facilitate resolution of legal and business issues
  • Leveraging internal and external databases and other resources to conduct research, such as to obtain information on the nature of an entity or individual’s role in a particular matter, and identifying relevant corporate affiliations
  • Ensuring confidentiality and non-disclosure of information involved in the conflicts review process
  • Developing an understanding of the company’s expert and business consulting services, and the nature and complexity of company professionals’ work on behalf of clients, in order to best navigate complex business relationships and new business conflict and relationship analysis
