About The Position

RTX BBN Technologies is seeking an organized, hands-on, people-centered Configuration Manager for its Physical Sciences & Systems (PS2) business unit. The role focuses on organizing and tracking hardware, software, and documentation assets in production environments. The Configuration Manager analyzes contractual and business configuration management requirements, implements and sustains internal processes, and ensures project-team compliance. The position involves working independently and collaboratively with development, production, and sustainment teams to prioritize and complete work aligned with project objectives and governing requirements. The role also manages parallel responsibilities such as maintaining internal status and configuration tracking systems, producing reports, performing internal audits, and coordinating customer deliverables. The position is hybrid and generally requires four days onsite per week in Middletown, Rhode Island.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or Business Administration/Management and typically five years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and three years of experience.
• Prior configuration management experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
• Experience organizing and methodically executing multistep tasks.
• An active and existing DoD Secret clearance is required after day one.

• Disciplined and deliberate approach, with proficiency in monitoring and enforcing configuration management expectations.
• Experience in hardware and software production activities.
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001 guidelines for Quality Management Systems.
• Technical background.
• Experience using Atlassian products, including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
• Experience using Product Data or Product Lifecycle Management software (PDM/PLM).
• Scrum Master experience.
• Strong grasp of Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
• Experience tracking Agile metrics such as velocity, burndown charts, and cycle time.
• Deep knowledge of Jira Service Management and Jira Software.
• Ability to build complex workflows, post-functions, and conditions in Jira.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• An active security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements to implement compliant configuration management of documents, software, and hardware.
• Assess existing project-level mission assurance workflows and propose and implement improvements to streamline processes, improve data consistency, and improve usability for users and management personnel.
• Perform random and scheduled internal audits to verify and enforce team compliance with configuration management requirements.
• Support secure data transfer activities and customer communications.
• Generate and track metrics related to program status and configuration management data.
• Monitor and maintain configuration tracking systems.
• Develop project-tailored training briefs for functional areas such as software, hardware, and documentation, and conduct periodic training sessions.
• Lead preparation and internal conduct for Government source inspection events.
• Support the handling and control of Government property.
• Collaborate daily with BBN team members and customers.
