About The Position

The Comsense Business Process Specialist serves as an experienced functional resource for UDHG employees who use Comsense to manage commercial door, frame, and hardware projects. This position is designed for an experienced Comsense user who has developed strong expertise within one or more areas of the system, including Estimating, Engineering and Detailing, Project Management, Procurement, Warehouse and Inventory Operations, or Accounting and Finance. Candidates are not expected to be experts across every Comsense module. UDHG is interested in individuals who bring deep knowledge within their functional area, understand how their work affects other departments, and have experience supporting large or complex projects through critical stages of the project lifecycle. The Comsense Business Process Specialist will work with other functional experts and business leaders to improve system usage, document practical workflows, support employees, and promote consistent processes across UDHG locations. The position will require regular travel to provide hands-on support and instruction.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using Comsense in a commercial door, frame, hardware, or architectural openings environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of at least one of the following functional areas: Estimating, Engineering or Detailing, Order Processing, Project Management, Procurement or Purchasing, Warehouse or Inventory Operations, Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience supporting large, complex, or multi-phase commercial projects.
  • Understanding of how information moves between functional teams during the project lifecycle.
  • Experience training, mentoring, onboarding, or providing functional guidance to other employees.
  • Ability to identify and resolve workflow, data, and system-related issues.
  • Ability to translate technical processes into clear and repeatable instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to UDHG locations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting projects from initial estimate or project setup through completion and closeout.
  • Experience as a senior estimator, detailer, project engineer, project manager, buyer, warehouse leader, inventory specialist, project accountant, accounting manager, or comparable functional role.
  • Experience providing structured instruction through classroom, virtual, or hands-on methods.
  • Experience supporting multiple branches, divisions, or operating companies.
  • Experience with process standardization, ERP implementation, acquisition integration, or system upgrades.
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, job aids, video demonstrations, or other employee learning materials.
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, learning management systems, or screen-recording software.
  • Door and Hardware Institute certification or related industry credentials.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, operations, information systems, education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject-matter resource within one or more assigned Comsense functional areas.
  • Apply hands-on Comsense knowledge to support commercial door, frame, and hardware projects.
  • Help employees understand how transactions within their function affect downstream departments.
  • Research system and workflow questions and provide practical guidance based on project and operational experience.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Comsense Enterprise and applicable Opening Suite functionality within the assigned area.
  • Build broader knowledge of connected Comsense functions through collaboration and cross-training.
  • Support large, complex, or high-priority projects when additional functional expertise is needed.
  • Develop and deliver structured Comsense onboarding for new employees within the assigned functional area.
  • Provide role-specific instruction for estimators, detailers, project managers, purchasing employees, warehouse teams, accounting employees, and other Comsense users.
  • Conduct live instruction through virtual sessions, classroom settings, individual support, and hands-on desk-side coaching.
  • Translate Comsense functionality and system requirements into clear, repeatable UDHG processes.
  • Adjust instruction based on the employee’s role, experience, responsibilities, and level of system proficiency.
  • Provide follow-up support to help employees apply approved processes in their daily work.
  • Partner with managers and designated super-users to reinforce consistent practices within their departments and locations.
  • Participate in cross-functional learning sessions when a workflow affects multiple departments.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, quick-reference guides, process maps, checklists, video demonstrations, and other Comsense learning materials.
  • Create specialized learning paths based on job function and system usage.
  • Organize learning materials within approved company platforms, including SharePoint, learning management systems, or other internal knowledge repositories.
  • Review training content regularly to ensure it reflects current UDHG procedures and Comsense functionality.
  • Update internal materials following applicable Comsense releases, patches, configuration changes, or process updates.
  • Work with functional leaders to validate the accuracy of training and process documentation.
  • Maintain version control and consistent naming conventions for published learning materials.
  • Review how employees and locations use Comsense within the assigned functional area.
  • Identify recurring user errors, incomplete transactions, process bottlenecks, data integrity concerns, and skill gaps.
  • Partner with department leaders to develop targeted refresher sessions, corrective instruction, and advanced learning opportunities.
  • Help establish clear and consistent workflows across UDHG.
  • Identify upstream issues that may affect project scope, costs, material requirements, schedules, purchasing, inventory, billing, margin, or financial reporting.
  • Recommend practical improvements based on employee feedback, operational observations, and recurring support requests.
  • Monitor adoption of approved processes and provide leadership with feedback regarding progress and additional support needs.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing when new Comsense functionality, configurations, or workflows are introduced.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for advanced Comsense questions within the assigned functional area.
  • Help diagnose whether an issue is related to system functionality, process design, data accuracy, or user knowledge.
  • Resolve questions when possible and coordinate with internal technical resources or Comsense support when additional assistance is required.
  • Document recurring issues and their approved solutions for future reference.
  • Provide additional support during new location implementations, acquisitions, system changes, and other business initiatives involving Comsense.
  • Escalate system, process, or data concerns that may create operational or financial risks.
  • Support the effective use of Comsense throughout applicable stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Review project information for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within the assigned functional area.
  • Help resolve workflow issues involving scope, material, purchasing, inventory, scheduling, billing, or financial reporting.
  • Partner with Estimating, Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Warehouse Operations, and Accounting to improve departmental handoffs.
  • Help employees understand the business impact of their Comsense decisions and actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
