By combining advanced robotics, magnetic navigation, and intelligent software, we are tackling one of the most technically demanding challenges in healthcare while aiming to expand access to advanced stroke care for patients around the world. We're looking for a Senior Computer Vision & Robotics Systems Engineer to evaluate 3D sensing technologies and perception algorithms and define the requirements that shape our sensing and robotics subsystems

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, computer vision, robotics, or perception within complex electromechanical or robotic systems (medical device preferred; industrial robotics, autonomous vehicles, or similar also considered)
  • Strong understanding of 3D sensing modalities and technologies (e.g., structured light, time-of-flight, stereo vision, LiDAR) and their tradeoffs
  • Experienced evaluating, benchmarking, or developing computer vision/perception algorithms
  • Comfortable defining and managing requirements for algorithmic components, including working with external partners and contractors
  • Experienced with requirements and test case management/traceability tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS, Polarion, or similar)
  • Strong root-cause analysis and debugging skills across sensing, algorithms, and system integration
  • Able to operate with the judgment and independence of an early startup hire — comfortable defining process where none exists yet, while holding the line on rigor where it matters most
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate clinical and product-level needs into precise, verifiable system and algorithm requirements
  • An adept, fast learner who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ROS / ROS2
  • Ability to build and run simulation environments for robotics or perception systems (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar)
  • Comfortable with Python and Linux for tooling, prototyping, or test automation
  • Experience in the medical device industry, ideally with interventional or robotic systems
  • Experience taking a system through a first-in-human or early feasibility clinical trial
  • Familiarity with magnetic actuation, catheter/guidewire systems, or neurovascular/endovascular devices

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and benchmark 3D sensing technologies (e.g., structured light, time-of-flight, stereo, LiDAR) and computer vision/perception algorithms for use within the system
  • Define system and subsystem-level requirements for sensing, perception, and robotics, ensuring traceability from clinical/product need through verification
  • Partner with third-party contractors and vendors to define, review, and validate requirements for algorithmic components of the system
  • Develop test methods, protocols, and acceptance criteria to evaluate sensing and algorithm performance against system requirements
  • Support integration of perception and robotics algorithms with hardware and software subsystems, working closely with hardware, software, and controls engineers
  • Analyze algorithm and sensing performance data, identify failure modes, and drive root-cause investigations
  • Support risk analysis and design reviews for sensing, perception, and robotics-related requirements
  • Contribute to a rigorous quality process that blends modern hardware/software/algorithm development practices with a regulatory V-model framework (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971)
