About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Component Engineer to join its Component Engineering Team at its Cedar Rapids, Iowa facility, supporting Military GPS Products. The role works with a variety of components and materials used in GPS products and supports component data, design, procurement, quality, and program activities. The position combines collaborative, in-person work with independent work in a hybrid format, splitting time between onsite and remote work.

Requirements

Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline.
At least 2 years of directly related experience.
Knowledge of components used in the electronics industry.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work on a cross-functional team.
U.S. citizenship.
Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills when working with customers, peers, management, and suppliers.
Willingness to put in the time and effort needed to get the job done.
Interest in finding ways to do things better and faster.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Past experience as a Component or Application Engineer.
Experience creating part specifications.
Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC, ASTM, and JEDEC.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain component data.
Work with a variety of components and materials used in GPS products.
Provide technical leadership to Design Engineers, Purchasing, Quality, and Program Managers to resolve component issues involving obsolescence, technical changes, part shortages, or failures.
Perform BOM analysis on new designs.
Provide technical support to resolve complex commodity issues in design and manufacturing environments.
Create and update documentation needed to support program requirements.
