About The Position

The Senior Compliance Specialist, Carrier Auditor role conducts comprehensive in-person audits and compliance assessments of third-party motor carriers to determine eligibility for High Risk / High Value freight within DSV Road. The role evaluates operational practices, safety and security procedures, equipment condition, driver qualifications, and telematics capabilities to ensure compliance with DSV policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. Using independent judgment, the auditor assesses carrier risk and makes approval, conditional approval, or disqualification recommendations while partnering with Carrier Services, Group Security, Safety & Compliance, and Operations to address corrective actions. This position is critical to protecting DSV cargo, customers, and brand reputation by reducing fraud, theft exposure, and operational failures, and requires frequent domestic travel, with approximately 50% or more of time spent conducting on-site audits and representing DSV professionally with carrier leadership and drivers. This role also acts as backup to our Compliance

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Criminal Justice, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics operations, safety, compliance, investigations, or carrier management.
  • Experience working with motor carriers, freight brokerage operations, or trucking safety programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, driver qualification standards, and equipment requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience performing audits, inspections, or compliance assessments preferred.
  • Understanding of cargo security practices, theft prevention, and high-value freight handling preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to document findings, analyze information, and prepare audit reports.
  • Prior field-based or travel-heavy role preferred.
  • Risk & Compliance Acumen – Interprets policies and standards accurately and consistently applies approval criteria and zero-tolerance policies.
  • Investigative Mindset – Identifies operational red flags, documentation inconsistencies, and fraud indicators.
  • Attention to Detail – Thoroughly documents findings and ensures accurate records and evidence retention.
  • Communication & Influence – Conducts on-site audits professionally and communicates findings and corrective actions clearly to carrier leadership.
  • Independent Judgment – Makes approval or denial recommendations based on objective criteria and documented findings.
  • Planning & Organization – Manages travel schedules, multi-location audits, and documentation deadlines effectively.
  • Professional Presence – Represents DSV confidently and maintains credibility in field interactions with drivers and carrier executives.
  • Problem Solving – Evaluates complex operational situations and recommends practical compliance solutions.
  • This position requires frequent walking throughout carrier yards, terminals, and parking areas for extended periods of time.
  • The employee must be able to climb into and out of commercial tractors and trailers, bend, crouch, and visually inspect equipment and cargo securement areas.
  • The role may require lifting and carrying materials and inspection tools up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • The employee must also be able to take photographs, observe equipment condition, and complete inspection documentation while on site.
