About The Position

The Senior Compliance Officer provides strategic oversight of the Bank’s Compliance Management System, regulatory compliance program, and financial crimes risk framework. This role ensures compliance with applicable federal and state banking regulations while promoting ethical conduct, consumer protection, and sound risk management. The position oversees Compliance, BSA/AML/CFT, OFAC, Fraud Prevention, Consumer Compliance, Regulatory Change Management, and Complaint Management functions, working closely with executive management, regulators, auditors, and the Board of Directors. The designated BSA Officer reports directly to this position. Remote candidates must be able to travel up to 25%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Law, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of banking compliance experience, including experience with Compliance Management Systems and consumer compliance regulations.
  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience.
  • Experience managing regulatory examinations, audits, BSA/AML or financial crimes oversight, and reporting to executive management or Boards of Directors.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CRCM, CAMS, CAFP, CRCMP, or similar compliance, risk, or financial crimes certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the Bank’s Compliance Management System and enterprise-wide compliance strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state banking regulations.
  • Maintain compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, monitoring, and testing programs.
  • Oversee regulatory change management, compliance risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
  • Advise executive management and the Board on significant compliance risks, trends, and program enhancements.
  • Provide executive oversight of the Bank’s BSA/AML/CFT, OFAC, fraud prevention, and financial crimes programs.
  • Supervise and support the designated BSA Officer and ensure adequate independence, authority, resources, and staffing.
  • Oversee BSA/AML risk assessments, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, CIP, beneficial ownership, sanctions screening, suspicious activity monitoring, and related remediation efforts.
  • Review significant SAR activity, financial crime risks, audit findings, and examination results.
  • Serve as primary management contact for compliance examinations, audits, and independent reviews.
  • Coordinate interactions with regulatory agencies and ensure findings are tracked and resolved timely.
  • Oversee the customer complaint management program, including trend analysis, investigation, resolution, and reporting.
  • Prepare and present compliance, financial crimes, examination, audit, and complaint reports to management and the Board.
  • Direct and supervise Compliance personnel and provide leadership to financial crimes staff through the BSA Officer.
  • Establish department goals, performance standards, staffing plans, and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and succession planning.
