The Center for Reproductive Rights is a global human rights organization dedicated to ensuring reproductive rights are protected as fundamental human rights worldwide. With offices in New York City, Washington D.C., Nairobi, Kenya, Bogota, Colombia, and Geneva, Switzerland, the Center is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that drives legal and policy change across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United States. Our team of over 270 diverse professionals is committed to advancing the Center’s human rights mission through impactful litigation, legal policy, and advocacy. The Center has experienced significant growth, with an operating budget exceeding $60 million and a global pro bono network of over 3,000 lawyers across 6 continents, 88 countries, and 140+ law firms, who contributed over $35 million USD in pro bono legal services last year. Our strategic plan aims to strengthen reproductive rights protections for half the world's population by 2030. Since our founding in 1992, the Center has been instrumental in transforming the understanding and application of reproductive rights by courts, governments, and human rights bodies globally, addressing issues such as maternal health, abortion, assisted reproduction, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights. We have achieved landmark victories in national courts, UN Committees, and regional human rights bodies, and have led the development of historic legislation advancing reproductive rights. Additionally, we have built the legal capacity of women's rights advocates in over 65 countries. The Center is seeking a Senior Compliance Attorney to join its U.S. Litigation team during a pivotal period for reproductive rights and access in the United States. Following the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 decision to eliminate the federal constitutional right to abortion, significant shifts in state and federal laws have impacted healthcare providers' ability to offer abortion care and individuals' access to it. These changes, compounded by new threats from a hostile federal administration, have created an increasingly complex and challenging legal and regulatory environment for healthcare providers and advocates of abortion care. The Senior Compliance Attorney will provide crucial compliance assistance to the U.S. Litigation team, addressing the evolving legal landscape and heightened enforcement risks post-Roe. This role involves advising Center clients on abortion-specific laws and regulations, general healthcare laws and regulations, and other state and federal policies affecting the provision of high-quality reproductive healthcare, including abortion care, maternal health care, and assisted reproduction. The ideal candidate will have experience advising clients, managing client relationships, and conducting complex legal analyses of state and federal laws and regulations. This position will be based in the Center’s New York City or Washington D.C. offices, operating under a hybrid model with 3 days in-office and 2 days working from home.
