About The Position
Our Senior Communications Advisor promotes Tolko’s value of Open Communication by supporting engagement within and across Tolko’s Operating and Business Service Teams. We’re looking for a Senior Communications Advisor to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in a strategic communications role.
- University degree in Public Relations/Communications.
- Proven execution of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies in a corporate environment.
- Strategic communications planning and project management experience.
- Experience in development and execution of both internal and external communication strategies and tactics in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and accountability to deliver results.
- Experience in leading through influence – holds others accountable in a positive and effective manner without having direct authority.
- Superior relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize collaborative engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Confident and articulate, able to share ideas while maintaining a strong sense of team, while continually evaluating what is best for the organization.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the forestry industry, or other resource-based manufacturing business considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Deliver communication services, plans and programs that enable strategic business priorities.
- Provide strategic counsel and communications support to Tolko leaders and team members at all levels of the organization.
- Collaborate with Operating and Service Teams to bolster employee engagement and strategic alignment through the use of standardized tools and processes across the business.
- Understand, appropriately engage, and be an ambassador for the services model, our brand, and communication processes on behalf of the Communications Team.
- Work as part of an emergency response team to support issues affecting Tolko.
- Prepare briefs for senior management as required.
- Travel frequently to operations sites (anticipate a minimum of once per quarter).
