About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven leader based in Seattle to help grow and strengthen our towage business across the Pacific Northwest, California, and Hawaii, as well as other areas where Saltchuk Marine operates. The Commercial Manager will lead customer relationships, commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and business development across a diverse portfolio of ports and marine services. Working closely with operations and senior leadership, this role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on a market-leading maritime business. This is a high-impact position with broad exposure to executive leadership and significant influence over the future direction of the commercial organization. The level and title of this position may be calibrated based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in maritime, ports, logistics, transportation, or related industrial services.
  • Demonstrated success in commercial management, strategic account management, or business development.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance customer, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with shipping lines, terminal operators, government agencies, and key customers.
  • Lead negotiations for service agreements, pricing, and long-term commercial contracts.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across existing and adjacent marine services.
  • Partner with operations to deliver safe, reliable, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and port developments to inform business strategy.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
  • Represent the Company throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada at customer and industry events.
