About The Position

The Senior Estimating Manager is responsible for completing estimate take-off of electrical drawings while ensuring they are per local and state national electrical codes, as well as in compliance with contract documents of new and/or existing project(s). This role involves performing complete estimates on large to complex projects, supervising and coordinating the estimating team, performing or approving calculations and electrical design for design-build projects, and reading and interpreting contract documents. The position also requires identifying cost-effective means to perform work, preparing and submitting RFIs, setting up breakdown charts and schedules, requesting and evaluating material and subcontractor quotations, participating in final negotiations, and business development. Additionally, the role involves attending job turnover meetings, developing sub-job breakdowns, performing construction estimates, handling change orders, preparing requests for clarification, supervising junior estimators, and assisting with job surveys and the development of new estimating procedures. The Senior Estimating Manager will also assist in achieving departmental sales and gross margin objectives and acquire additional training to improve communication and leadership skills.

Requirements

  • Four plus (4+) years of experience in Electrical Estimating
  • Degree/Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of estimating fundamentals
  • Advanced knowledge/experience with Accubid, various Estimating software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experienced in the Design and Layout of electrical systems
  • Ability to estimate multiple projects concurrently
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations) to calculate labor, materials, and/or cost estimates for projects and work orders, etc.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level
  • Possesses a valid Florida Driver's license in good standing to meet the company's driving requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete estimates on large to complex projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate the estimating team in the take-off process for a complete and thorough estimate.
  • Perform or approve calculations and electrical design for design-build projects.
  • Read and interpret contract documents.
  • Perform pre-bid reviews.
  • Identify cost-effective means to perform work and increase competitiveness.
  • Prepare and submit RFI’s (Request for Information) during the bid process.
  • Set up breakdown charts, fixture schedules, and switchgear schedules for the new project(s).
  • Preparation of the scope of work.
  • Request, receive, and evaluate material quotations from suppliers and/or vendors.
  • Request, receive, and evaluate quotations from subcontractors.
  • Participate in final negotiations to secure contracts and/or commitments from clients.
  • Participate in the Business Development of new clients.
  • Attend and perform job turnover meetings.
  • Develop sub-job breakdown and perform construction estimate.
  • Perform change orders as needed.
  • Prepare and submit a request for clarification.
  • Supervise the work of Estimator Level I, II, and III.
  • Periodically attend and assist the project manager in performing end-of-month job surveys.
  • Assist in the development of new estimating procedures.
  • Assist in achieving the department’s sales and gross margin objectives.
  • Acquire additional training as needed to improve communication and leadership skills.
  • Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities per the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
