Senior Commercial Data Analyst
About The Position
Ecolab is seeking a motivated, high-potential Senior Commercial Data Analyst to strengthen its commercial analytical capability. This hands-on individual contributor leads processes for gathering, validating, analyzing, and reporting commercial data. Working at the intersection of Sales, Commercial Finance, and IT, the role translates business needs into scalable reporting and analytical solutions and generates insights to support growth and market-share decisions. The position has no direct reports and relies on process leadership, technical credibility, commercial understanding, and cross-functional influence. The role owns commercial data and reporting processes from business requirements through delivery and adoption. It develops and maintains dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reporting; analyzes commercial performance; improves data quality and reporting scalability; and partners with business and technical teams to deliver and adopt solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Five years in commercial analytics, sales analytics, BI, commercial finance, revenue operations, or a related field.
- Strong SQL and advanced Excel capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or a comparable BI platform.
- Experience translating business requirements into reports, dashboards, or analytical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including data validation and reconciliation.
- Understanding of commercial measures such as revenue, margin, pricing, customers, and products.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated self-direction and ownership of projects from initial question through implemented result.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or B2B environment.
- Experience with ERP and CRM data.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, SAP, Snowflake, Power Query, Alteryx, or Python.
- Experience with customer or product hierarchies, segmentation, pricing, or market data.
- Exposure to Agile requirements, user-acceptance testing, or reporting governance practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead assigned commercial data and reporting processes from business requirement through delivery and adoption.
- Partner with Sales and Commercial Finance to define KPIs, reporting requirements, and analytical priorities.
- Translate business needs into data specifications, reporting logic, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reporting using Power BI or comparable tools.
- Analyze revenue, volume, pricing, margin, customer, product, and market performance data.
- Identify trends, risks, performance drivers, and opportunities to support commercial growth.
- Reconcile data across commercial, financial, and operational sources and coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
- Maintain documentation covering business definitions, mappings, reporting logic, data sources, and process ownership.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and improve scalability.
- Partner with IT and data teams on source-system changes, integrations, data models, and technical delivery.
- Support testing, user training, and adoption of new reporting solutions.
- Present clear recommendations to business stakeholders and leadership.
