About The Position
Singer Vehicle Design is seeking a Senior Collision Repair Technician to join their team in Torrance, CA. This role involves restoring and reimagining Porsche 911s with a focus on precision and quality. The technician will be responsible for welding, repairing, and restoring high-end automotive chassis, ensuring that every detail meets the company's standard of "Everything is Important."
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum seven (7) years of related work experience in an automotive (chassis/ parts), restoration, manufacturing and or collision environment
- Proficient competency in GMAW (MIG) welding process
- I-CAR or ASE certifications in related fields
- Experience with basic hand and pneumatic tools such as body hammers, dollies, grinders, sanders, etc.
- Experience with specialty autobody tools such as spot welders, dent pullers, stud welders, etc.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication methods such as cutting, shaping, forming, shearing, etc.
- Knowledge of filler material and required gas applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials
- Knowledge and ability to use a frame machine to do frame and body pulls
- Familiarity of conventional and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to properly fit/align parts and panels according to design specifications
- General automotive knowledge and knowledge of fabrication, machining/ welding equipment setup, process, and maintenance
Nice To Haves
- Certification or training in Celette framing systems
- Competency with GTAW (TIG) welding process
Responsibilities
- Prepare and stage upcoming production builds on Celette frame benches
- Assess damage of each chassis with Production Supervisor to ensure alignment on scope of repair work
- Complete work associated with each vehicle repair including light to heavy repairs, replacing panels via welding or bolt-on/off, structural and frame repair
- Report any additional repairs/ parts necessary to complete restoration of chassis to factory specifications
- Inspect both raw materials and finished products for conformance to quality specifications
- Assist in special projects and set up of fixtures as required
