About The Position

This position is for 1st shift CNC programming and shop support / development. The role focuses on VTL and 5-axis mill (3+2 & 5-simultaneous) programming, providing process development and support for large-format machining operations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with graphical-based CAM System CNC Programming.

Nice To Haves

  • Siemens NX CAM experience is preferred.
  • Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using a CAM system (preferably NX).
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routine (macro), Renishaw probing routines, variable-based programming, and Closed Loop Machining (CLM).
  • Significant hands-on background as a machinist, with the ability to setup and prove out complex first-piece programs.
  • A track record of managing tight tolerances on large-format equipment (VTLs/VBMs up to 2.5m) where part deflection, work hardening, and thermal stability are critical factors.
  • Extensive experience machining nickel-based superalloys (Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy, etc.) common in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) or Aerospace industries.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with above-average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
  • Experience using Vericut or other CNC verification and machine simulation software.
  • Strong familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens.
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements.
  • Ability to multitask and productively manage multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Program, develop processes, and provide shop support for large VTL (up to 2.5m), large VBM (up to 2.5m), large head-head Gantry 5-axis, or large vertical multi-purpose turn/grind equipment.
  • Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM or other software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and/or EDM.
  • Verify new CNC programs prior to release on the shop floor utilizing Vericut.
  • Incorporate on-machine probing using Renishaw cycles for part and process validation, including error trapping.
  • Create programs following standards and qualified machining parameters.
  • Provide CNC-related support to Manufacturing Engineers and provide operator training during new or rebuilt machine startup and process improvements.
  • Provide daily operator support in the form of CNC programming and troubleshooting support to the shop floor.
  • Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements associated with CNC machine tools.
  • Generate and support workstation instructions (methods) for CNC-related issues.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Provide effective communication to appropriate team members when needed.
  • Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment within a matrixed organization.
