Senior CNC Machining Engineer

About The Position

We're looking for a hands-on manufacturing engineer with real CNC machining expertise to lead process improvements, capital projects, and technical problem-solving on our machining floor. This role is the go-to technical resource for CNC machining, turning, milling, grinding, and related manufacturing systems — diagnosing issues, optimizing processes, and leading projects from concept through launch. You'll work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, with a focus on machined components and assemblies
  • Hands-on CNC machining expertise, including fluency in G-code and M-code
  • Experience processing parts — sequencing operations to consistently produce quality results, not just running the machine
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, fixtures, gauging, and manufacturing systems, with a track record of solving complex process problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, and suppliers

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering or capital projects (machine replacements, capacity increases, cost-out initiatives)
  • CAM software experience (MasterCAM, GibbsCAM, or similar)
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or RCCA background

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical expertise across CNC machining, turning, milling, grinding, honing, and broaching — including troubleshooting issues that affect safety, quality, delivery, or cost
  • Establish and optimize process parameters (speeds/feeds, tool life, coolant, work-holding, tooling strategy) and own equipment, tooling, fixture, and gauging processes
  • Lead capital and engineering projects from scope through installation, commissioning, and final acceptance, including procurement, RFQs, and ROI analyses
  • Serve as the plant's subject matter expert on machining technology, mentoring engineers and technicians and driving cross-functional problem-solving
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts — cost reduction, waste elimination, and root-cause corrective action

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • Work-life flexibility
  • Recognition and rewards
  • Development and career opportunities
  • A safe and inclusive workplace
  • health, vision, dental, 401(k) with Rehlko matching
