Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Anyscale•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $240,000

About The Position

Anyscale is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to own the security of its production and cloud infrastructure as the company serves larger and more demanding customers. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role focused on hardening, isolating, and monitoring production and cloud environments across AWS and Azure. The engineer will own runtime security coverage across Kubernetes environments, cloud security posture management, infrastructure security standards, and production access controls. The role sets and drives the direction for infrastructure and production security, reports to the Head of Security, and partners closely with engineering. It is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the first year, success means delivering hardened and well-segmented production environments, strong runtime security coverage across the container footprint, and a clear, defensible account of how Anyscale secures the infrastructure its customers rely on.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in security engineering, with a deep focus on cloud and infrastructure security; ideally gained at a high-growth startup.
  • Hands-on expertise securing multi-cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure, and container platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Strong grounding in infrastructure-as-code, cloud networking, and identity and access in cloud environments.
  • Experience with cloud security posture management (CSPM) and runtime security tooling, and the judgment to turn findings into prioritized, actionable work.
  • Ability to independently own cloud infrastructure security, set its direction, and make sound tradeoffs across teams.
  • Fluency working directly with engineers on architecture and remediation, rather than only producing findings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience securing multi-tenant production systems or environments that run customer workloads.
  • Familiarity with Upwind or similar CSPM and runtime platforms.
  • Experience contributing to SOC 2 or ISO 27001 evidence from the infrastructure side.
  • Background in AI or ML platforms or distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the security posture of production and cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, including hardening, network segmentation, and tenant isolation.
  • Own runtime security coverage across Kubernetes environments, from deployment through detection of anomalous activity.
  • Partner with engineering on secure infrastructure architecture and the secure design of production environments.
  • Own cloud security posture management end to end, including triage, prioritization, and driving remediation with resource-owning teams.
  • Define and drive cloud infrastructure security standards, including baseline configurations, infrastructure-as-code security, and key and secrets management.
  • Drive fine-grained, role-based access to production in partnership with engineering and IT.
  • Feed infrastructure findings into vulnerability management and risk reporting.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage, with many plans up to 99% employer-covered.
  • Flexible time off.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Mental health support.
