About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering is a leading-edge product development team that creates enterprise compute and storage server designs for our innovative web service and e-commerce technology platforms. Our designs are industry-leading in terms of performance, frugality, and operational excellence, and are critical to the AWS business and the hundreds of thousands of customers who use utility computing today. We are seeking experienced Thermal/Mechanical Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms. This is a fast-paced, challenging position where you will work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You will have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your products performance, quality and cost. You’ll need to understand when a change in technology enables a completely different way of approaching server design. We’re changing an industry, and we want team members who are ready for this challenge and want to reach beyond what is possible today.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 7 years experience in thermal and mechanical design of server technologies or equivalent technology

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and thermal design and development for complex electronic systems
• Design and validate systems and subsystems to meet program objectives
• Participate in the cross-discipline design process working with other HW and SW team members to develop optimized integrated solutions
• Conduct failure analysis and solution validation for product development and fleet systems
• Manage interaction with overseas resources
• Provide mentorship and technical reviews to a team of mechanical/thermal design engineers
