The aim is to provide a streamlined process and framework that allows development teams to focus on building business logic. The platform is used by development teams globally to host hundreds of applications. We are building our development team with makers, creators, and industry leaders who will drive us forward. The Senior, Cloud Engineering role operates within the Cloud Platform Engineering team. This role specializes in Cloud Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineering, focusing on building tools, frameworks, and workflows designed to streamline cloud-native development, making it seamless, scalable, and delightful for developers. This valuable team member will be responsible for creating platform components and services that support broad enterprise use cases.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Enthusiasm for cloud platform/components/services development and developer experience.
  • Enthusiasm for leading-edge technologies and patterns.
  • Strong desire to learn, grow, and support the growth of the team.
  • Strong programming skills in at least three object-oriented and/or scripting languages, such as JavaScript, Java, and Python.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native application development.
  • Experience in developing with a modern full-stack technology stack.
  • Experience working with relational databases and non-relational databases.
  • Experience working with AI coding assistants.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of essential web application security concerns.
  • UX sensibilities for developer-facing interfaces.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, such as Azure and GCP, and cloud-native patterns.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with container orchestration, such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or portals.
  • Experience with agentic coding tools.
  • Experience working within Canadian financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the development and maintenance of cloud platforms, services, and components to enable the safe enterprise-wide use of common cloud functionality.
  • Lead development of internal portals and dashboards that empower developer productivity.
  • Advocate for developer needs in cloud-native development environments.
  • Be responsible for level 3 support.
  • Design, implement, and refactor code.
  • Lead design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
  • Ensure software, programs, and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.
  • Work with other engineers and architects on breaking down, scoping, and estimating tasks.
  • Participate in planning and retrospective sessions, stand-ups, and other team ceremonies.
  • Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.
  • Support application teams in using the platform, including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
  • Will be asked to provide peer review and quality control on a daily basis
