About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. In this client-facing role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable cloud infrastructure for a diverse range of clients across the UK and EMEA. Your work will form the foundation of our customer’s Data Platform and AI solutions, directly contributing to our clients' success. You will be a passionate cloud evangelist with deep technical expertise, and a strong consulting mindset, capable of translating complex business requirements into secure, efficient, and innovative cloud architectures. This is a remote-first role, but you will need to be able to commute to London occasionally for client meetings or team sessions.

Requirements

• Substantial commercial experience in a DevOps or Cloud Consultant role (7+ years), with a proven ability to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with core Amazon Web Services (AWS) services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, Glue, EKS/ECS).
• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A consultative mindset with strong problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in agile, client-facing environments with autonomy and ownership.

Nice To Haves

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or other relevant AWS certifications
• Experience working in other cloud environments (Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with building and supporting cloud-native data services (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, EMR).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to understand their business objectives and technical requirements, providing expert advice and designing best-practice cloud solutions on AWS or Azure.
• Lead the hands-on implementation and deployment of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Architect and build the foundational cloud services required to support modern data platforms, including data lakes, data warehouses, and machine learning environments.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment, testing, and integration of infrastructure and applications.
• Provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for client cloud environments as part of our managed services offering, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
• Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, cost management strategies, and governance policies to ensure client environments are secure, compliant, and cost-effective.
• Assist the sales team in a technical capacity during pre-sales engagements, including contributing to proposals and presenting technical solutions to prospective clients.
• Act as a subject matter expert within the business, mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to internal best practices and knowledge bases.
