Senior Cloud Engineer - Full Stack Web

SJE Inc.Chesterfield, MO
Remote

About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to help build the next generation engineering team for our AMI Global brand. This role may work remote, but we would prefer a candidate to be near one of our SJE locations. Our AMI brand is a leading IoT connectivity solution for equipment via hardware, SaaS, and software. Its gateways and cloud connected solutions enable real-time monitoring, control, analytics, and commercialization support. We provide integration, development, and go-to-market services. We default to managed and serverless. We’d rather pay AWS to run infrastructure than hire ops headcount to run it ourselves. Industry-standard protocols and formats (OpenAPI, OICD/OAuth2, OpenTelemetry) are the default; bespoke inter-service protocols require a written argument before they ship. Tests gate every merge. We aim for boring releases. GitHub is source of truth and deploys go out in waves across tenant accounts, so a bad release stops at the first wave rather than reaching every customer at once. AI tooling is woven into how we work, across pair programming, code generation, and test scaffolding. The productivity gain is real, and we staff around it. On-call is business hours during the first phases of rollout, expanding as the platform matures.

Requirements

  • Building production web applications (7+ years), as well as strong full-stack across modern frontend frameworks and backend APIs
  • TypeScript – must be fluent end-to-end
  • Production experience with multi-tenant SaaS web: branded experiences, tenant-scoped auth, per-customer customization patterns
  • AWS application-tier (Cognito, Amplify, CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda). You will need to ship customer-facing apps on AWS confidently
  • Real design instinct for B2B operator UX. Our users are technicians and Ops staff
  • IaC (Terraform or CDK) and CI/CD competence.
  • Writing ADRs and arguing your position in writing
  • A 4-year degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree and 7-10 years of experience are required.

Nice To Haves

  • White-label or theming-engine experience at a SaaS that serves multiple branded customers
  • OIDC/OAuth2 federation (SSO into customer enterprise IdPs)
  • Track record turning bespoke per-customer implementations into templated platform features
  • Industrial UI, operator console, or other critical-infrastructure dashboard work

Responsibilities

  • Web application surface: Operator consoles and customer-facing dashboards on a modern frontend framework (React/Next.js or whatever you can defend), backed by typed APIs.
  • App-tier auth and tenancy. Cognito (or equivalent) user pools, OIDC/OAuth2 flows, per-tenant routing, role-based access, audit logging of user actions.
  • Branded per-OEM experiences. Theming, custom domains via CloudFront/ACM, white-label patterns. The first OEMs will ship with bespoke implementations; you’ll generalize the patterns into a reusable templating engine as we go.
  • Frontend delivery: Build, CDN, deployment pipeline, observability into client-side errors and performance.
  • API consumer surface: The web app uses the platform’s public API on the same contract our external customers do, with no internal shortcuts. If you own UI can’t live happily on the contract, we don’t expect a customer’s frontend to either.
  • Frontend test strategy: component-level, integration, end-to-end. Releases on this side should be boring too.
  • Occasionally providing technical mentorship and support to cross functional teams within the organization.

Benefits

  • health, life, short-term and long-term disability insurance as well as dental and vision programs
  • Up to 120 hours of Paid Time Off in your first year
  • 8 paid holidays
