About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a high-visibility TSA program. This role is responsible for architecting, engineering, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud solutions across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments, ensuring alignment with DHS/TSA security, compliance, and operational requirements. The Senior Cloud Engineer will design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure and platform services across AWS and Azure in support of mission objectives. They will lead cloud engineering efforts across IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid environments, and develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM, Bicep, or CloudFormation. Ensuring compliance with DHS security frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP) and collaborating with cybersecurity teams to implement secure architectures are key responsibilities. The role also involves supporting cloud migration initiatives and legacy system modernization, monitoring performance, availability, and cost optimization, and troubleshooting complex cloud/system issues with root cause analysis. Additionally, the Senior Cloud Engineer will mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership, and partner with stakeholders to translate mission needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s with 6 years, Associate’s with 10 years, or High School diploma with 12 years of experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required; active DHS EOD clearance, Public Trust, or ability to obtain
  • Minimum 5 years of overall IT experience, including 4+ years focused on cloud engineering (AWS and Azure)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure VMs, App Services, AKS, Azure AD, AWS EC2, S3, VPC, IAM)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation)
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (VNETs/VPCs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers)
  • Experience supporting systems within federal or regulated environments (DHS, DoD, or similar)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant cloud certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS)
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, Zero Trust Architecture)
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Experience with tools such as ServiceNow (SNOW), Chef, Nexus, Selenium, or similar platforms
  • Prior experience supporting TSA or homeland security programs
