Build and run the cloud backbone that powers FLBG’s science, speed, and scale. As our Senior Cloud Engineer, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery, support, and availability of global cloud platforms across on‑prem, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS—keeping our environments stable, secure, high‑performing, and inspection‑ready. Requirements

  • Degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology, or relevant technical certifications.
  • 7+ years’ experience in an IT 3rd/4th line position with a proven track record in an enterprise IT cloud environment; OR 5+ years’ experience working in a biomedical IT cloud service environment.
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides an equivalent background to deliver against role expectations.
  • 7+ years in a 3rd/4th line cloud engineer role in a global enterprise, or 5+ years in a biomedical sciences 3rd/4th line IT cloud support role (or a mix of both).
  • In‑depth design and support knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Terraform, and AI services.
  • Experience with backup/replication (e.g., Veeam).
  • Strong experience building and managing Linux servers.
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong experience with infrastructure storage solutions (design, build, administration).
  • In‑depth knowledge of infrastructure security and frameworks such as ISO 27000; understanding of security for open‑source technologies.
  • Networking principles: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
  • Scripting and automation expertise.
  • Ability to track emerging issues, strategies, roadmaps, patterns, and technologies to enhance service delivery.
  • Skilled communicator with technical and non‑technical stakeholders at all levels; adept at gaining support for IT initiatives with low/medium risk, impact, and complexity.
  • Solid business acumen; comfortable engaging senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day support, availability, and performance of FLBG’s global cloud estate.
  • Design, build, configure, administer, and support infrastructure technologies across compute, storage, networking, physical systems, and software solutions (COTS and open-source).
  • Deliver and maintain services across on‑premises and cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), ensuring platforms are stable, secure, and fit for purpose.
  • Deliver and support multidisciplinary global cloud projects, ensuring timely and effective technical outcomes.
  • Produce and maintain technology documentation aligned to GxP and critical IT requirements.
  • Participate in—and where appropriate lead—system validation and testing so solutions meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Represent IT systems during audits and inspections, providing accurate technical input and supporting compliance objectives.
  • Collaborate with FLBG Principal Engineers to define, interpret, and translate architectural designs into robust, supportable operational solutions and services.
  • Ensure designs are effectively implemented within production environments, aligned to technical standards, operational requirements, and service quality expectations.
  • Lead deployment of new technologies, systems, and hardware, integrating seamlessly with existing services.
  • Follow FLBG policies, procedures, and security frameworks throughout the deployment lifecycle.
  • Validate that systems meet defined AIS metrics and acceptance criteria prior to go-live, ensuring readiness for operational use and compliance with service standards.
  • Manage capacity, availability, support, and continuity across global IT cloud platforms, including data, AI, storage, and business continuity services.
  • Brief and advise senior IT leadership on infrastructure supportability, availability requirements, and operational constraints; produce clear technical documentation and reports.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to secure-by-design engineering across IT/OT; promote consistent engineering standards.
  • Provide cross-functional technical support across enterprise IT/OT systems, including evaluation and delivery of project work packages, design requirements, and procedures.
  • Contribute operational input to IT/OT architecture roadmaps and security initiatives, aligning technical delivery with strategic direction.
  • Design and support medium-to-high complexity systems to ensure robustness, supportability, and business alignment.
  • Collaborate with administrators, vendors, and internal teams to align solutions with business objectives and architectural standards.
  • Implement and enforce FLBG cybersecurity governance standards across IT/OT infrastructure to support compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Assess technical and operational information to make informed recommendations and drive decisions with IT and business leadership.
  • Provide technical input and advisory support to design, technical, and commercial reviews.
  • Represent IT governance within broader organizational governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with standards, policies, and controls.
  • Engage globally with senior stakeholders and vendors; contribute to internal and external audits on infrastructure design, service compliance, and operational processes.
