About The Position

Tharseo IT is seeking a senior cloud engineer to support secure cloud modernization on a DoD Air Force program. This is a hands-on role where you will design, build, and run cloud infrastructure with a primary focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and work across AWS and Azure where needed. You will architect solutions, then build them, automate them, and keep them running in a regulated DoD environment. Candidates must hold an active Secret clearance, a current Security+ CE certification, and a current OCI certification at the time of submission. This is a remote role.

Requirements

Active Secret clearance or higher.
CompTIA Security+ CE certification, current (DoD 8140 baseline).
10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud architecture, or infrastructure engineering.
Hands-on experience designing and running production workloads on OCI.
Current OCI certification, such as OCI Architect Associate or Professional.
Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments.
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
Strong knowledge of cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, identity and access management, and high availability and disaster recovery.
Experience with security and compliance frameworks such as RMF, NIST, FedRAMP, or FISMA.
Strong Linux skills and experience supporting enterprise application workloads.
Clear communication and documentation skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Nice To Haves

DoD program experience, especially Air Force.
SCCA landing zones or DoD cloud security architecture.
Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) and service mesh such as Istio.
STIG implementation and vulnerability remediation.
Advanced OCI certifications, such as OCI Architect Professional, Multicloud Architect, or DevOps Professional.
CISSP or other advanced security certifications.
Oracle technologies such as RAC, Data Guard, and Autonomous Database.
Scripting in Python or Bash.
FinOps or cloud cost optimization experience.
Experience supporting Oracle SaaS platforms such as ERP, HCM, or Fusion.

Responsibilities

Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud architectures, primarily on OCI, within a multi-cloud environment that includes AWS and Azure.
Build and manage Kubernetes platforms, including installation, upgrades, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
Build and maintain CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines with automated security scanning, patching, and monitoring.
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform across OCI and other cloud platforms.
Lead migrations from on-premises data centers and other clouds to OCI with minimal downtime.
Architect highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster recovery solutions across cloud platforms.
Design cloud networking and hybrid connectivity, including VCNs, subnets, DRGs, load balancers, FastConnect, and VPN.
Apply security best practices aligned to DoD and public sector standards, including IAM, encryption, key management, zero trust, and STIG hardening.
Support compute, storage, and database solutions, including Oracle workloads such as Autonomous Database and Exadata.
Help define governance models, landing zones, and cloud operating frameworks.
Monitor and optimize performance, availability, and cloud spend.
Work closely with DBAs, application teams, security teams, and government stakeholders.
Provide technical leadership and support pre-sales efforts as needed.
