Cloud Developer - TS/SCI with Polygraph
About The Position
GDIT is hiring a Senior Cloud Developer to support mission-critical government projects and the defensive cyber mission. The role will help establish a cloud platform and enable AI capabilities for systems operating 24x7x365. It is based onsite at a customer location in Herndon, Virginia. It does not require continuous on-premises support, though occasional after-hours support may be needed. The developer will build and maintain secure, scalable cloud applications and services, support software releases and security accreditation, and collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams. The position may also involve supporting Linux infrastructure and systems, troubleshooting performance issues, and improving the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of Cloud Engineering experience.
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
- Strong familiarity with at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Python or Java.
- Strong familiarity with at least one web framework, such as Django, Node.js, or .NET.
- Experience deploying applications to the cloud.
- Familiarity with cloud-based relational databases, such as RDS or Azure SQL, and object storage technologies, such as S3 or Blob Storage.
- Active Top Secret SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with cloud-based Kubernetes or other containerization technologies, such as ECR, EKS, or AKS.
- Experience improving the efficiency of existing source code.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or Tofu.
- Experience using AI tools for programming, such as Claude Code, OpenCode, or Codex.
- Experience with Shell, Bash, and/or Python scripting.
- Linux security hardening and familiarity with SSH, SFTP, DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP protocols.
- VMware architecture and configuration, including VM spinups and patching.
Responsibilities
- Build secure, scalable applications on a fast-paced engineering team.
- Review and adjudicate pull requests according to team standards and security guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and fine-tune existing code to improve efficiency or scalability.
- Develop custom frontend and backend services for novel use cases.
- Expand libraries and microservices to integrate new data sources and external APIs.
- Communicate with stakeholders to obtain requirements and iterate on a minimum viable product (MVP).
- Work with relevant personnel to guide an enterprise software tool through accreditation and security review milestones.
- Coordinate with project managers and product owners to align work with stakeholder requirements.
- Support Linux infrastructure and systems as needed.
- Perform fault-finding, analyze issues, and log information for performance-exception reporting.
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software releases and hot fixes on applicable systems.
- Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks.
- Recommend improvements to the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
- Collaborate with teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
- Use broader technical skills to assist other projects within the Systems Engineering and Operations (SEO) team.
