About The Position

The Senior Clinical Staff Pharmacist provides advanced professional, clinical, and supervisory skills in the management of pharmacy operations and procedures in various areas of responsibility. This role involves performing all pharmaceutical care and drug distribution duties, managing and evaluating staff, training departmental personnel, developing and maintaining operational policies and procedures, preparing performance evaluations and budget requests, identifying and resolving operational and patient safety issues, providing in-service education, and participating in staff recruitment and selection. The specific essential job functions may vary depending on the assigned specialty area.

Requirements

Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
Three (3) years of experience.
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas or eligible for licensure from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Must be licensed with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus.
Exhibits strong interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team.
Takes ownership in solving problems effectively and efficiently and participates in resolution in a proactive and positive manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates through verbal and non-verbal communications openness to change or new ideas.
Willingly learns and adapts to changes in work environment and new work methods as introduced.

Responsibilities

Performs all pharmaceutical care and drug distribution duties required of Clinical Staff Pharmacist.
Manages, supervises, and evaluates staff, residents, and supportive personnel.
Trains and orients all departmental staff in departmental and hospital procedures.
Develops and maintains departmental operational policies and procedures including ongoing quality assurance standards and measures.
Prepares and maintains performance evaluation standards, budget request, and time and motion data.
Identifies, documents, and follows-up on problems related to inter and intra departmental operations and patient safety.
Provides in-service education directed toward the training and development of UTMB health care providers.
Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of qualified staff members.
Develops the ongoing educational activities of the department.
Adheres to internal controls established for department.
Performs related duties as required by management.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
