Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join their team Remotely. This position is responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations through high-quality FISH analysis, technical review, and workflow coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in FISH analysis (digital preferred), demonstrate sound technical judgment, and contribute to the training and development of team members while maintaining excellence in quality, accuracy, and turnaround time performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • A dedicated home office space that isn’t shared and meets HIPAA compliance.
  • Agree to have your home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report. This is a CMS requirement.
  • Provide wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.
  • Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.

  • Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG)
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
