About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team Remotely. This role is responsible for determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, preparing and testing new reagents, reporting accurate test results, and performing and documenting quality control procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory operations, experience in a high-volume environment, and excellent attention to detail and communication skills. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems, and the ability to handle the physical requirements of the position, including passing a color blindness test. Remote work requires a dedicated, HIPAA-compliant home office space, a minimum internet speed of 100 mb/sec, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
4 years or more of cytogenetics testing experience
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
A dedicated home office space that isn’t shared and meets HIPAA compliance.
Agree to have your home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report. This is a CMS requirement.
Provide wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.
Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.

Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
