About The Position

Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Client Account Manager and Business Leader to join their Mountain Area Leadership Team. This role reports to the Central Division Power Market Lead and is responsible for overseeing large client accounts in the Power Market. The position focuses on client development, understanding regulatory and economic drivers, identifying project opportunities, and leading the pursuit, winning, and delivery of projects. Operational management experience is also recommended due to the level of engagement within the organization.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience in positioning and winning work in environmental planning and permitting, environmental restoration, geotechnical and civil design, and construction services service lines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment, interacting with business development and operations teams, and maintaining close client communications.
  • Technical expertise for proposal writing and pricing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Pro-active problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Dedication to safety and quality.
  • A minimum of fifteen years' experience in an environmental and engineering consulting firm or related professional service business.
  • A minimum of ten years of managing a business strategy and development function for a business of 100+ professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a 10+% organic Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) through hands-on collaboration with market leads and mentoring of seller/doers.
  • Strong understanding of technical terms and concepts and the ability to align and gain credibility with clients, technical professionals, and operational leadership.
  • Past successful work experience utilizing a CRM, sales funnel, and client account plans.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating current market trends against existing capabilities and determining points of entry and tactical plans to grow market share.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, earth science, environmental science, marketing or related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Operational management experience is strongly recommended.
  • Master's/MBA degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Professional registration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Client development, including understanding regulatory and economic drivers, identifying upcoming project opportunities, and positioning, pursuing, winning, and delivering projects.
  • Regularly meeting with client decision-makers to pre-position for operations-maintenance and capital expenditure programs, requiring up to 30% travel for client and project meetings throughout the west.
  • Project engagement as a program manager, project manager, or technical subject matter expert with a 60% billability target to ensure efficient delivery exceeding client expectations for scope, schedule, budget, and innovation.
  • Driving innovation and presenting technical white papers.
  • Providing weekly updates to the Account Plan, Scorecard, and CRM for pursuits.
  • Assisting in proposal writing and pricing with technical expertise.
