About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Jefferson Correctional Institution in the Classification Department. The purpose of the Senior Clerk is to provide essential administrative and clerical support to the Classification Department by managing inmate records, preparing documents, maintaining data and files, handling departmental communications, and delivering professional customer service. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
• Must pass a Level 2 background check.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Preparing correspondence, memorandums, and typing essential forms and documents.
• Maintaining inmate files, conducting audits on new inmates, and preparing necessary forms.
• Inputting data into the CDC database, retrieving and printing information, and maintaining classification documentation.
• Receiving, date stamping, sorting and distributing mail, as well as handling, copying, scanning, and faxing of documents.
• Answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and taking on special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.
