About The Position

Berkley Select Claims Operations is undergoing a transformation (Operations 2.0) to enhance efficiency, scalability, and consistency through process redesign, automation, and offshore transition. The Senior Claims Operations Associate is crucial to this transformation, providing high-quality claims support and service delivery. This temporary role addresses key needs during the transition period by handling complex claim support activities, acting as an operational resource to the Operations Manager, and supporting process stabilization, automation readiness, and offshore enablement. The role is expected to evolve from execution-focused support to higher-level operational oversight and complexity management as automation advances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in claims support, claims operations, insurance operations, or a related operational role.
  • Proven experience working in a production-oriented environment with volume, deadlines, and quality expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a structured, corporate environment.
  • Operational Judgment: Understands how decisions impact customers, claims outcomes, and downstream processes.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a changing, production-oriented environment.
  • Influence Without Authority: Supports peers and offshore partners through expertise and credibility.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies issues early and apply practical, risk-aware solutions.
  • Clear Communication: Communicates expectations, issues, and process updates effectively.
  • Ownership Mindset: Takes accountability for outcomes, not just assigned tasks.
  • Partnership Orientation: Builds strong working relationships with Claims professionals and Operations leadership.

  • Experience supporting operational transitions, automation initiatives, or offshore delivery models.
  • Transferable operational skills (e.g., from financial services, healthcare operations, or shared services environments) will be considered, with a preference for individuals who have worked in structured, metrics-driven production settings.
  • Experience partnering closely with operations leadership or acting in a lead/support capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee complex claim support tasks requiring judgment, prioritization, and coordination with Claims professionals.
  • Serve as escalation support for non-standard, exception-based, or time-sensitive claim issues.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately, timely, and in alignment with established procedures and service standards.
  • Support the transition of claim support activities to automation and offshore partners.
  • Assist in documenting workflows, identifying exceptions, and defining transition and handoff criteria.
  • Provide practical feedback on process gaps, failure points, and operational readiness during transformation efforts.
  • Act as an onshore subject matter resource supporting offshore teams during knowledge transfer and stabilization.
  • Assist with training materials, job aids, and workflow clarifications.
  • Monitor early performance and quality trends; escalate risks or issues as appropriate.
  • Partner closely with the Operations Manager to support daily operational oversight and issue triage.
  • Assist with workload coordination, prioritization, and follow-up on operational actions.
  • Support reporting, tracking, and execution of operational initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted delegate for coordination across Claims, Operations, and support partners.
  • Help ensure claim support activities remain compliant with internal controls and audit expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve consistency, reduce rework, and strengthen operational handoffs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts aligned with Operations 2.0 objectives.
  • As automation and offshore capabilities mature, this role will increasingly focus on complex, judgment-based claim support and exception handling, quality stabilization across automated and offshore workflows, identifying opportunities for further process optimization, and providing operational insight to leadership on transition effectiveness and residual risk.
