GEICO is hiring a Senior Data Analyst to join our Claims Innovation team. In this role, you will own complex analytical solutions end‑to‑end, integrating advanced data analysis, modeling, and visualization to deliver scalable, production‑ready insights for Claims leadership. You will leverage SQL, Snowflake‑backed data models, and Power BI to translate ambiguous business problems into governed, high‑performance dashboards and analytical assets. You will partner across Claims Innovation, Product, Engineering, and Operation teams to improve claims operational efficiency, loss performance, and customer experience, while mentoring junior analysts and helping mature GEICO’s claims analytics ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum of 6 years of analytical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in P&C insurance industry, preferably within claims.
  • Expert level proficiency in Power BI, including semantic modeling, advanced DAX, and visualization best practices.
  • Knowledge of SQL, with experience performing data pulls, joins, and aggregations on large datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Knowledge of innovative methodologies, processes, and principles.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, with the ability to partner cross functionally to translate data and analytical requirements into deliver measurable and actionable outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast‑paced environment while balancing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead complex, ambiguous analytics claims initiatives from problem definition through delivery, with clearly defined business outcomes and successful metrics.
  • Translate unclear stakeholder requests into structured hypotheses, analytical frameworks, and decision‑ready insights for senior leadership.
  • Own the end‑to‑end design and delivery of complex claims analytical data models and high‑impact Power BI dashboards, delivering clear, usable insights through strong storytelling and thoughtful design.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and transform claims data from enterprise sources, solving ambiguous analytical problems through deep root‑cause analysis and insight generation.
  • Lead sophisticated analytical problem‑solving using DAX, statistical methods, and trend analysis.
  • Ensure analytical rigor, data integrity, and governance across all owned datasets and reporting solutions.
  • Establish and drive adoption of visualization, performance, and scalability standards across the team.
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to define, document, and prioritize data, analytical and project requirements, translating business objectives into clear analytical scopes, success metrics, and delivery plans.
  • Support claims innovation workshops and ideation sessions by providing data‑driven insights and structured analytical perspectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend opportunities in analytics tooling and platforms from both technical and financial perspectives.
  • Partner with Manager and Director to help establish team priorities, goals, and delivery plans.
  • Mentor junior and associate analysts, providing guidance on SQL, data modeling, DAX, visualization best practices, and analytical rigor.
  • Review and audit work to ensure adherence to quality, performance, and deliverable standards.
  • Contribute to building repeatable analytical standards and a culture of continuous learning.
