This role will develop and manage marketing strategies for the Commercial Lines and E&S segments. The manager will build and lead a team that liaisons between Corporate Marketing, Strategic Business Units (SBUs), and Regional Offices. The position involves designing, developing, and executing innovative marketing strategies, such as 'Marketing in a Box,' to operationalize marketing efforts with field and agency partners. The goal is to create a strategic plan providing turnkey marketing tools to drive new business and retention. All duties must comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Note: For NJ candidates, this role will be located at our future headquarters in Short Hills, N.J. Until then, the successful candidate can work at our Branchville, N.J. location.

Requirements

  • Ability to create and deliver concise and impactful communications to internal and external audiences to inform, engage, and influence.
  • Expert knowledge within a marketing communications field and the ability to integrate critical information from diverse areas.

  • Keep abreast of industry emerging practices and best-in-class marketing initiatives and strategies.
  • Thorough understanding of the insurance business model.
  • Ability to manage outsourced firms, vendors, and other high-value providers seamlessly to support business unit success.
  • Ability to work with broad latitude for decision-making and priority setting while maximizing the talent of a small, flexible staff committed to high responsiveness, quality, and service.
  • Capability to manage the position’s operational, administrative, and supervisory duties.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in marketing or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Property & Casualty insurance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a marketing strategy aligned with corporate and regional business objectives, focusing on profitable growth and retention, and ensuring marketing strategies enhance Selective’s brand position.
  • Utilize marketing knowledge to create multi-channel marketing communication solutions targeted to different audience segments within assigned local markets.
  • Establish strong relationships with regional partners to ensure the Commercial Lines and E&S Team is immersed in Corporate and Regional goals and strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and business partners to develop a quarterly 'Marketing in a Box' calendar for consistent messaging, elevating Marketing’s presence, and influencing adoption rates of key initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a marketing strategy for Commercial Lines and E&S aligned with company business objectives, using functional expertise to achieve strategic goals for profitable growth and retention.
  • Employ a data-driven, story-telling approach to drive net premium written, retention, and brand health, and provide input on the marketing communications strategic plan.
  • Lead and partner with business partners to utilize measurement processes for gauging success and measuring return on investment, using functional metrics to drive best practices.
  • Develop, support, and lead staff in executing department strategies and key initiatives, including managing the department's operating and expense budget.
  • Continuously seek efficiencies in current processes and identify new, innovative marketing solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct long-term planning of complex, strategic, and major marketing communication programs and forecast marketing communication needs.
  • Travel to regional offices, representing approximately 20-50% of the employee’s time.
