About The Position

Join Hitachi Energy as a Senior Civil Structural Engineer and contribute to the delivery of engineering solutions for Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS), Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), and Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) projects. In this hybrid role based in Montreal, Canada, you will coordinate and execute civil and structural engineering activities that support project safety, quality, reliability, schedule, and cost performance. Your work will include engineering design, technical reviews, code compliance, and construction support for high-voltage substation and FACTS applications. You will resolve complex design challenges, develop engineering deliverables, and serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects. Through the design and delivery of critical infrastructure, this role contributes to the reliability and ongoing advancement of electric power systems.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil and/or structural engineering.
  • Experience serving as a professionally licensed engineer and supporting civil and structural engineering for high-voltage substation and FACTS applications.
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, L-Pile, ENERCALC, Hilti PROFIS, AutoCAD, Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma).
  • Licensed professional engineering (Ing.) member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver cost-effective engineering solutions that meet budget and contract requirements.
  • Support adherence to safety requirements and mitigation of potential risks.
  • Develop civil and structural engineering work plans and cost estimates.
  • Prepare design criteria and engineering deliverables for project execution.
  • Perform structural, building, foundation, and material specification engineering for high-voltage substation and FACTS applications.
  • Resolve design issues and ensure compliance with national and local codes.
  • Conduct technical reviews of design packages and support construction and field engineering activities.
  • Serve as the professionally licensed Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
