About The Position

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for their Reno office. This role is crucial for achieving the company's goal of 'Making Sustainability Happen'. The Reno office provides a comprehensive range of professional services for challenging mining projects, including geotechnical engineering, earthworks and grading, stormwater design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, environmental remediation, and construction quality monitoring. The selected candidate will report to a registered principal engineer, mentor junior staff, and manage their own projects and technical workflows. Responsibilities include design, analysis, and preparation of specifications, calculations, and technical reports for various mining projects. The position offers a collaborative environment with multi-disciplinary teams, opportunities to work on significant local and global projects, and the chance to influence communities and the environment positively. The role also involves site assessments, construction observation, and client/regulator meetings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Nevada, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Working knowledge of Engineering software including, but not limited to: Civil Design & Grading (Civil 3D)
Depending on area of specialization, specialty software to include: Hydrology & Hydraulics (HEC HMS, HEC RAS); or Geotechnical Design (GeoStudio, Rocscience)
Possess valid driver's license
Willing to travel by car and airplane, including travel for domestic projects

Ability to learn new engineering topics and software quickly
Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work in a team environment

Responsibilities

Lead and take professional ownership of projects in a technical capacity
Perform engineering work for industrial and mining projects
Visit project sites for the purpose of data collection and monitoring, performing investigations and / or performing construction inspection services
Utilize a variety of computer programs including AutoCAD Civil 3D software and software noted above to undertake designs and computations
Write memos and calculation packages to document work performed
