About The Position

Crawford Consulting Services is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with a PE or EIT certification and a minimum of 15 years of field experience. The role involves providing independent, timely, and professional civil engineering support for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities. This includes renovation project upgrades for buildings and sitework, addressing structural integrity, building envelope, and code compliance, and reviewing requests for information, submittals, and shop drawings. The position requires significant hands-on field experience and collaboration with project stakeholders and other engineering disciplines. Typical projects span a wide range of civil engineering services including site developments, roads, water supply, sewer systems, drainage, dredging, and solid waste facilities, supporting new or existing facilities and large industrial sites in diverse conditions. Knowledge of DOD guide specifications, industry codes, standards, and local/federal laws is essential. Proficiency in software such as Whole Building Design Guide (WBGD), AutoCAD, civil design/analysis software, Specs-In-Tact, Autodesk, and Microsoft Office is required. The role also involves producing written analysis, consolidating findings, evaluating recommendations, and making oral presentations. Compliance with safety policies and the use of personal protective equipment are mandatory. Hard structure inspections may require working from a crane, performing material inspections, and documenting in the RMS database, often outdoors in varying weather. Facility Civil Engineering tasks include sitework, clearing, rock excavation/blasting, demolition, site demolition, underground utilities, exterior and interior building renovations, site logistics, foundations, steel erection, roofing, concrete work, and landscaping/hardscaping.

Requirements

  • PE or EIT certification
  • 15 years of field experience minimum
  • 4-Year Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Considerable amount of hands-on in the field experience is required.
  • Knowledge of DOD guide specifications, criteria and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices as related to civil engineering design including the International Building Code.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting civil engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR.
  • Skill in the use of software/systems, such as Whole Building Design Guide (WBGD) and AutoCAD, civil design/analysis software, and Specs-In-Tact technologies, Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, civil engineering design and analysis software and other applicable DoD computer systems.
  • Ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts.
  • Ability to make oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies.
  • Knowledge of and full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a Government Background Check for Campus Access/Site Security every day.
  • Must be able to do a site reconnaissance and be able to navigate safely on a construction site.
  • Can’t have civil or criminal record: DUI, fellows, child record, etc. Pass a Govt Security Background Check.
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Must have good professional employment references.
  • Has transportation to and from work (valid driver’s license, valid vehicle registration, valid vehicle insurance)
  • Can work 8 hrs. a day, 5 days a week, 40 hours per week.
  • Candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check, which includes a criminal background check.

  • FEMA, US Army, NAVFAC, DOD, DOE, National Guard Installations experience is a plus.
